Las medidas del habla y el lenguaje se reconocen cada vez más como marcadores sensibles, escalables y no invasivos de diversos trastornos cerebrales. Sin embargo, la investigación actual está abrumadoramente centrada en el inglés, lo que deja de lado la vasta diversidad lingüística del mundo y socava la aplicabilidad global de estos marcadores. Aquí presentamos la Red Internacional para la Investigación Interlingüística sobre la Salud Cerebral (Include), una iniciativa multicéntrica creada para abordar esta brecha ¿(https://include-network.com/). En primer lugar, repasamos los orígenes, la misión y la estructura organizativa de la red. A continuación, resumimos los hitos clave alcanzados durante sus primeros cuatro años, que abarcan estudios empíricos interlingüísticos, marcos armonizados de gobernanza de datos y esfuerzos de difusión global. Además, destacamos proyectos emblemáticos que demuestran cómo la tipología lingüística y la cultura dan forma a los marcadores del habla y el lenguaje relacionados con la neurodegeneración. Por último, esbozamos los desafíos y oportunidades fundamentales para el campo, centrándonos en la subrepresentación lingüística, la armonización de herramientas, la heterogeneidad regulatoria y la expansión más allá de la neurodegeneración. En conjunto, estos esfuerzos posicionan a Include como una plataforma estratégica para fomentar una investigación sobre la salud cerebral equitativa y de relevancia global.

Speech and language measures are increasingly recognized as sensitive, scalable, non-invasive markers of diverse brain disorders. Yet, current research is overwhelmingly English-centric, neglecting the world’s vast linguistic diversity and undermining these markers’ global applicability. Here we present the International Network for Cross-Linguistic Research on Brain Health (Include), a multicentric initiative created to address this gap (https://include-network.com/). First, we review the network’s origins, mission, and organizational structure. Then, we summarize key milestones achieved during its first 4 years, spanning cross-linguistic empirical studies, harmonized data-governance frameworks, and global dissemination efforts. We further highlight flagship projects demonstrating how linguistic typology and culture shape speech-language markers of neurodegeneration. Finally, we outline critical challenges and opportunities for the field, focusing on language underrepresentation, tool harmonization, regulatory heterogeneity, and expansion beyond neurodegeneration. Together, these efforts position Include as a strategic platform for fostering equitable, globally relevant brain-health research.
