Adolescencia: para los científicos, ahora dura de los 10 a los 24 años
Se posterga la independencia de los padres, el acceso al trabajo y la paternidad; un editorial de la revista Lancet Child and Adolescent Health afirma que esa edad se ajusta más a la realidad actual.
“Existen múltiples concepciones de la adolescencia, algunas más biológicas, otras más sociológicas, otras más psicológicas”, Adolfo García. “Según qué perspectiva se adopte, se podrá fundamentar un punto de corte más o menos extenso. En la segunda década de vida se dan cambios genéticos, hormonales, neuroanatómicos, neurofuncionales y socioculturales que se influyen recíprocamente para dar pie a patrones cognitivos y conductuales que rara vez se manifiestan en etapas previas y posteriores”.

Parental independence, access to work and parenthood are postponed; an editorial in the Lancet Child and Adolescent Health magazine states that this age is more in line with today’s reality.
“There are multiple conceptions of adolescence, some more biological, others more sociological, others more psychological,” highlights Adolfo García. “Depending on which perspective is adopted, a more or less extensive cut-off point can be established. In the second decade of life, genetic, hormonal, neuroanatomic, neurofunctional and sociocultural changes occur, which influence one another to give rise to cognitive and behavioral patterns that rarely manifest themselves in earlier and later stages. ”
