Los bebés humanos tienen una habilidad especial para adquirir el lenguaje. No se trata de la destreza de alguno o algunos en particular, ni de una cuestión de género, ni de una lengua en especial. Deposítese a un recién nacido en el seno de un grupo de hablantes (en general, la familia) para que en algunos meses empiece a entender y, luego, a verbalizar las primeras palabras. Es un hecho que observan todos los padres y madres del planeta, pero los mecanismos cerebrales que habilitan esta plasticidad todavía no se conocen muy bien.

The language babies hear before birth shapes their brains
Human babies have a special ability to acquire language. It is not a matter of the ability of any one or a few in particular, nor of gender, nor of a particular language. Place a newborn baby in a group of speakers (usually the family) and in a few months it will begin to understand and then to verbalize its first words. This is a fact observed by every parent on the planet, but the brain mechanisms that enable this plasticity are not yet well understood.
