La interpretación simultánea suele describirse como una de las actividades lingüísticas que más esfuerzo cognitivo exigen al ser humano. Los intérpretes deben escuchar un discurso que se desarrolla a gran velocidad en un idioma y, casi al instante, reformularlo en otro, con precisión, fluidez y sin el lujo de poder hacer pausas. Esta superposición constante entre escuchar, recordar y hablar supone una exigencia extraordinaria para el cerebro.

The cost of language juggling
Simultaneous interpreting is often described as one of the most cognitively demanding language activities humans perform. Interpreters must listen to a rapidly unfolding speech in one language while almost instantly reformulating it in another—accurately, fluently, and without the luxury of pauses. This constant overlap of listening, remembering, and speaking places extraordinary demands on the brain.
